Donating

How are donations used?

Spirit Haven is an entirely volunteer operated organization that is privileged to own 100+ acres of land at Spirit Haven Ranch (SHR) where we host two festivals annually, Samhain in October, and Beltane in April. That takes a lot of resources! Donations, either monetary or bought from our Amazon wishlists, go directly to helping Spirit Haven continue to maintain our land and host these events. Donations also assist Spirit Haven in supporting our local volunteer fire department and statewide disaster relief efforts.

How can I give?

  • Consider purchasing an item from our Amazon Wish List! These items help our dedicated Ranch Staff maintain our beloved Spirit Haven Ranch.
  • Consider purchasing an item from our Community Kitchen Amazon Wish List! These items help our Kitchen Witches keep our hard-working WorkEnd volunteers fed.
  • Sign up for Amazon Smile! This program donates a portion of your total to Spirit Haven every time you shop – no effort required.
  • Donate to us directly – instructions coming soon!

Volunteering

Being an entirely volunteer-run organization with over 600 active members, 100+ acres of beautiful Land, and two huge Festivals every year, Spirit Haven needs a lot of time and love to run. Getting hands-on with Spirit Haven is incredibly rewarding! Foster connections with new friends, get the warm fuzzies from giving back to your community, and keep Spirit Haven running with various levels of volunteerism.

Festival Community Service

Festivals are huge events that require a lot of work to put on! As an entirely volunteer-run organization, Spirit Haven needs your help to make sure Festivals run as smoothly as possible. Help us make sure everyone is safe (Guardians, Healers, Fire Safety Spotters), answer questions and offer guidance (Carol's), welcome folks to the festivities (Front Gate and Bridge Trolls), or do a little bit of everything (Flying Monkeys). You'll make a few new friends no matter what you're up to!

All adults who purchase a Full Event registration are required to do (at least) two hours of community service at Festival. During the registration process, you'll need to choose two Community Service options. You are not guaranteed to get your first choice community service option or general time slot, but we do try very hard to accommodate everyone! Check out the descriptions of the different options below.

Join the team on the bridge! You will greet attendees as they cross the infamous Troll Bridge into the heart of the festival, pass along important last-minute information about safety and site conditions, and have a generally great time!

Questions? Email the Troll Lead: troll.lead@spirit-haven.org

Places are limited for this community service position.

It takes a lot of hard work to make our Revel Fires sacred and safe. This team plans and prepares the main fire ring during the day and tends and feeds the fires during the burn at night. The energy you use in building and tending the fires makes a circuit of energy between the tenders, the drummers, the dancers, and the festival community.

Questions? Email the Fire Chief: fire.chief@spirit-haven.org

Are you experienced in Fire Performance Safety? Join the team to help ensure we’ve got enough good spotters to cover all those who want to perform. You’ll get to be front and center to help make sure our Fire Performers stay safe. Shifts will be 2-hr slots after dark only, and will require good shoes and full-coverage clothing.

Questions? Email the Safety Services Lead: safetysvc.lead@spirit-haven.org

To ensure that our team has the necessary experience, all volunteers require approval of the Safety Services Lead.

Want to be of help wherever you may be needed? Be a Flying Monkey! This could include anything from helping with festival games, to running festival errands, to making announcements regarding schedule changes.

Questions? Email the Carol’s Lead: carols.lead@spirit-haven.org

As part of the Front Gate Team, you will help in directing the flow of check-in for festival. Tasks include meeting and greeting people as they enter, making sure they check in properly, directing cars to the parking lot with parking passes, and keeping track of vehicles and owners for security purposes.

Questions? Email the Gate Lead: gate.lead@spirit-haven.org

Volunteer spots are limited.

Come serve your community as a Guardian! We walk the property to promote physical and spiritual safety during festival. Enjoy delicious coffee, silly meetings, inside jokes, radio hijinks, and sometimes, sometimes… even a chance to save the day (no promises)!

Questions? Email the Safety Services Lead: safetysvc.lead@spirit-haven.org

Volunteer spots are limited. Good shoes and full-coverage clothing are required on shift, and new volunteers will need to attend Guardian 101 Training.

Greet the early risers in the coffee shop! Help with setup/cleanup of supplies and keep the coffee brewing, the drinks pouring, and the conversation flowing.

Questions? Email the Tearoom Lead: tearoom.lead@spirit-haven.org

Join the team at Mathew’s Self Healing Station! We need volunteers to assist with our self-serve First Aid station, helping folks with things like minor injuries, bug bites, sunburn, or overheating. There will be tasty cookies, plenty of laughs, camaraderie, and of course, chicken jokes.

Questions? Email the Safety Services Lead: safetysvc.lead@spirit-haven.org

Volunteer spots are limited. First Aid training is not required, however, wearing full-coverage clothing on shift is very much required.

Are you friendly and helpful? Assist Carol’s team by providing festival attendees with their community service assignments and helping answer questions about workshops, events, and general festival information.

Questions? Email the Carol’s Lead: carols.lead@spirit-haven.org

Assist our Stage Crew with setup for bands and performers!

Questions? Email the Entertainment Coordinator: entertainment@spirit-haven.org

Volunteer spots are limited.

Come join the crew that finishes preparing the land and gathering the wood for festival. Your activities could include preparing food for the crew’s community kitchen, harvesting or splitting wood, setting up carports or equipment, mowing a Sacred Space, painting, and more. This is a multiple day commitment and approval/participation qualifies you for Exempt Registration (which means no additional charge for Wednesday entry!) There are a limited number of Community Service credits available for this crew, so get your request in early!

Questions? Email the Director of Property and Assets: dir.property@spirit-haven.org

WorkEnds

Grab a friend and join us at WorkEnds; smaller gatherings focused on loving stewardship, forging bonds outside of festivals, and taking pride in caring for our home, Spirit Haven Ranch.

What is a WorkEnd?

Throughout the year, the Ranch Team (led by the Ranch Manager), will schedule and organize maintenance tasks at SHR over a weekend… thus the name “WorkEnd.”

It’s anything and everything needed to maintain SHR and it’s buildings, from re-roofing a structure to organizing the tool shed to painting buildings and making sure everyone is hydrated… you name it. Those who may have physical limitations or various forms of disability are totally welcome; there is always something for everyone to do!

While we certainly put the Work in WorkEnds, we have a ton of fun, too! Make lasting connections with your team, dance to the drums around the campfires at night, and yell “ONE TEAM” – an affirmation of the work we’re doing and the appreciation for those doing it with us.

Not a Spirit Haven member yet? No worries! You can attend two WorkEnds in a calendar year before you join!

What should I expect?

Expect to work hard, play hard, and camp under the stars. Bring your camping gear, sturdy shoes and gloves, LOTS OF WATER, sunscreen and bug spray, and a drum if you have one!

WorkEnd Requirements and Information

  • Sign in at Mathew’s Healing Station upon arrival for safety and accountability.
  • Attend the brief Safety and Task Meetings at 9 am on Saturday and Sunday mornings in the Kitchen (this is where you’ll sign the attendance roster and obtain tasks).
  • There’s a fancy new shower specifically for WorkEnd use – bring toiletries and a towel!
  • Mathew’s Healing Station is usually available as a crash space (check the specific event on the calendar), and is “first come, first served.”
  • Port-a-Potties are located near the SHR Office/Guardian Building.

When is the next WorkEnd?

WorkEnd Policy Reminder

  • Spirit Haven Ranch is a “Pack It In, Pack It Out” facility. Any and ALL trash you produce (including night-time fireside festivities and meals) needs to leave with you.
  • Guests will be allowed to attend two WorkEnds, after which time, they will need to become members in order to enjoy member benefits, such as, attending further WorkEnds.
  • All dogs MUST remain leashed. Pets are like kids: you’re responsible for their care, keeping, and behavior.
